Beware of Pyramid Schemes in Disguise

I'll tell you a story, but first, the familiar questions: Do you want to be financially secure? Do you want to be your own boss? Do you ...

Another Johnny Miss

Johnny Depp is a talented actor, no argument about that. But he has been involved in movies with one-sided characters, though funny but still one-sided. It's like watching him as the same person in different movies, even though that is really not the case. It just feels that way to me and it is getting bland. He plays caricatured characters so well that he can give all Three Stooges a run for their money. I acknowledge his acting abilities but I think we are ready for something else - another strong character. He should leave comedy and try another genre - preferably something deep. I would watch that without a second thought. I have been tired of seeing his movies since "The Lone Ranger" and then seeing him as the wolf in "Into the Woods" was like duh! of course. It's sad to say that I don't have the urge to watch "Mortdecai" at the movies, even though it may be an awesome movie. There are other movies out there now that have peaked my curiosity more. Johnny Depp should remind movie goers of his versatility and make movies that show us that. Hope is not lost. I'll be watching out for something fresh and new.

Just a Little Garnish

How do you get somebody's when you want them to notice something? Recently, I learned about the little tweaks people can do to something to make it difficult to ignore. It's a challenge to make something unique but the addition of a 'little something' can add to its appeal. You might have started telling me to make my point already. I changed the look of my Etsy shop recently and the feedback was off the chats. The items didn't necessarily change but the presentation did. I had formally presented the items in an unappealing plain background and didn't think of the damage that did to the appearance of the page. The change of background and the addition of character made the difference I needed. I recently thought of what made me stop to view an Instagram page or a web site. The answer was simple - character. The character of a page might be something that either beautifies or makes it weird. Either way, it is something that shouts, "stop and notice me."

Golden Globe Awards 2015: My my! and Yikes!!

This year's Golden Globe Awards red carpet event was lighted up with fashion choices that turned heads - both good and bad. I was impressed with details of outfits, makeup and accessories. My five favorites and five less favorites were ranked by overall styling from head to toe. I have to commend the couples even though none were together on my five favorite looks of the night. They were generally paired nicely.

Favorite Five

1) Kate Hudson

2) Matt Bomer

3) Chrissy Teigen

4) Helen Mirren

5) Emma Stone

Least Favorite Five

1) Tina Fey

2) Amanda Peet

3) Alan Cumming

4) Claire Danes

5) Zosia Mamet

Dreaming of TBDress

I'm not a shopaholic like most fashion bloggers. Something has to get my attention and stick there for a while before I make the move to purchase it. I pay attention to only unique items and they easily become a "must buy" if they're affordable. When I do my routine blog readings, I look at the Ads on my page. They're mostly clothing because fashion is the main topic I blog about. Then came one day when I looked at the left margin and saw a style featured for TBDress. I had never heard about them until I saw the girl wearing a sweater dress that I had always dreamed of. I have a soft spot for slouch sweaters but the color also matters to me. Seeing a design that I never imagined I could find in real life made me scream and then I clicked. I could not believe what I saw and the prices made me wonder if I was dreaming. There were awesome styles of clothing and accessories for men, women, and kids. TBDress already has a major fan base so this excitement of mine may not be new to you. But if you're hearing about them for the first time, check them out. I already have a bunch of items from them on my wish-list and I'll make some purchases soon so I can blog about them. I'm so excited :) (Be alert about sizes. I got a helpful tip that they may run smaller).
